Esikhotheni, (pronounced “ss-khot-hen”) Zulu for “In the Sticks” is by no means primitive and untamed as the name would suggest. Comfortable and elegant without being too fussy, this 4 star lodge celebrates tranquil charm, surrounded by untouched African bush, on a stunning hilltop location overlooking the shimmering Jozini Lake in Northern Zululand. Superior accommodation is offered in 7 en-suite chalets; positioned for optimum privacy all have private patios with magnificent views. Forming part of the privately owned Pongola Game Reserve, Esikhotheni offers guests an array of activities : game drives, lake cruises, bushwalks, rhino tracking, Tiger-fishing, quad bike safaris, and for the more adventurous, a 4x4 track.

Accommodation
Superior accommodation is offered in 7 en-suite chalets, positioned for optimum privacy all have private patios with magnificent magnificent views. The bathrooms are very spacious with large showers and raised oval baths with clear views of the lake. The Honeymoon Suite is designed with the more romantic guest in mind, with a private Jacuzzi set on an extended deck in the bush. The chalets all have air-conditioning, mini bar with tea and coffee making facilities; luxurious bath essences, lotions etc for your pleasure and comfort, hairdryers and electronic mini-safe for safe keeping of personal items, money etc.

Meals
Dining at Esikhotheni is an indulgence. Long lazy breakfasts, and delectably elegant dinners are the order of the day - all carefully prepared and beautifully presented by the resident chef. Meals are either served in the traditional boma or in the lodge.

Directions
FROM DURBAN: Take the N2 North, by-passing Empangeni and Mkuze.
Continue for 22km past the Mkuze turnoff and you will find the R66/R69 Vryheid/Nongoma road that turns to the left.
Turn left here onto a gravel road. Continue with this road for 1.5km and you will come across our gate on the left.
Enter and follow road to the lodge. Distance from Durban to our gate is about 330km, travelling time about 4 hours.
FROM GAUTENG / MPUMALANGA: Follow the N2 to Pongola. Continue on the N2 through Pongola for a further 46km to the R66/R69 Vryheid/Nongoma
road that turns to the right. Turn right here onto a gravel road. Continue with this road for 1.5km and you will come across
our gate on the left. Enter and follow road to the lodge.
VIA THE INLAND ROUTE: Follow the R66 to Pongola. In Pongola turn right onto the N2 South.
From here it is 46km to the R66/R69 Vryheid/Nongoma road that turns to the right. Turn right here onto a gravel road.
Continue with this road for 1.5km and you will come across our gate on the left. Enter and follow road to the lodge.
