North Coast Region Of KwaZulu Natal
Commonly cited as the Dolphin Coast, the pristine North Coast Region of KwaZulu Natal is
a mystical location with an alluring indigenous setting and abound with adventure.
Since the time of the infamous King Shaka, Bottlenose dolphins have graced this
shoreline, cavorting in the warm Indian Ocean. Today, they continue to delight both residents and visitors alike.
The area comprises the towns of Zimbali, Ballito, Shaka's Rock, Salt Rock, Sheffield Beach,
Tinley Manor, Blythedale Beach, Zinkwazi, KwaDukuza-Stanger, Shakaskraal and Umhlali,
each one with it's own unique characteristics yet sharing the same warm tropical climate
which instigates a healthy outdoor lifestyle. Golden beaches, inviting swimming
spots, emerald golf courses and top class sporting facilities are conducive to hours
spent enjoying your favourite pastime. For those sporting sea legs, deep sea
fishing charters and dolphin watching excursions are available and will leave
you feeling exhilarated. For the more adventurous, a ‘birds eye view’ flip in a
microlight offers a new perspective as you absorb spectacular views from
a dizzying height.
Visit the Natal Sharks Board in Umhlanga, where the myths surrounding these
prehistoric sea monsters are unveiled. Witness a shark dissection, (best done before lunch to avoid
accidents), then attend a visual screening highlighting the plight of these
feared creatures. For the kids - a trip to Flag Farm animal farm or ten pin
bowling will delight and amaze whilst a round of Mini Putt Putt will groom them
for future rounds on any one the world class golf courses in the area.
Located in Tongaat, the crocodile farm is a must see. Here visitors get the opportunity to get up close
and personal with these enormous scaly beasts. Other activities along the North Coast include horseriding,
fishing, surfing, walking or simply relaxing on the beach with a good book.
For those seeking a culturally inspiring experience, Shakaland offers visitors the opportunity to discover the
ins and outs of early ‘daily life’ in a Zulu homestead. Enjoy displays of traditional dancing and food and
drinks sampling.

Accommodation along the Dolphin Coast is plentiful and covers a full spectrum of price, style and levels of
comfort. Anything from backpacking lodges to five star luxurious retreats are on offer. For business
