Overview: Bhekamanzi Thonga Village is sitauted next to a lake in a "rural" community area near Ndumo. You will be staying "in the bush" amongst the local community. The village is a great example of a successful model of a micro-tourism project, initiated by the local Thonga community, the Space for Elephants Foundation, and the Eshowe Rotary Club. The village provides rustic accommodation in Thonga Style huts. Being situated on the lake means you can see the local fishermen go out in the morning, and women and children collecting water. Guests must bring their own food, but there is camp staff that will cook for you and keep the camp in order. There is no electricity, but warm running water is available for showering. The village offers great birding, and is conveniently close to both Ndumo Game Reserve and the Tembe Elephant Park.
