The Berghouse and Cottages is a privately owned, 1650 acre
estate, offering you Drakensberg self catering accommodation and numerous
activities in the Northern Drakensberg of the KwaZulu Natal province. Situated
only 3 hours from either Johannesburg or Durban, this stunning
Drakensberg getaway is surrounded by mountains - their massive
sandstone cliffs will remain etched in your memory forever.
The property provides you with unique, panoramic views of the Drakensberg spires
from as far as the Monks Cowls and Cathkin Park to the south
and the Amphitheatre and Maluti Mountains in the Northern Drakensberg, as well
as the "Little Drakensberg" to the north east, bordering the
Freestate province. Experience a mountain atmosphere with breathtaking views, described as the "IMAX
Views" of the Drakensberg.
Accommodation
Comfortable accommodation awaits you in 6 well-furnished, privately situated cottages, each with fully equipped kitchens, kitchenettes and log fireplaces, with an abundance of firewood on site. Guests have the option between Self-catering, Dinner Bed and Breakfast or Bed and Breakfast accommodation. Berg House and Cottages can accommodate up to 29 guests.

Thamela - "Bask In The Sun"

- Situated high up on the side of a hill, this elevated position offers spectacular views of the entire Central, Northern and Little Drakensberg.
Thunzi - "Shade"
- 2 bedroom thatched cottage, both with ensuite bathrooms, bath off the main bedroom and shower in the second room.
- Logfire place in the open plan lounge and kitchen area.
- Fully equipped kitchenette.
- Built in Braai/Barbeque facility outside the cottage.
- Jungle gym for kiddies outside the cottage.
Thula Thula - "Peace and Tranquility"
- Ideal venue for "Honeymoon couples".
- Privately situated.
- Queen size double bed with a logfire place in the bedroom.

Thandanani - "A Place That Everyone Loves"
- A fully self-contained cottage.
- A queen size bed and log fireplace can be found in the bedroom.

Thokozela - "A Place Of Many Happy Returns"
- A 2 bedroom cottage with a queen bed in the one room and twin beds in the other.
- Fully equipped kitchenette,fridge,stove and microwave.
- Spectacular views of the Amphitheatre,Northern Drakensberg mountains as well as the Maluti mountains, from the windows of the cottage.
- Under cover braai facility.
Meals
Home cooked cuisine awaits those who choose to have dinner and breakfast, picnic hampers are also provided (meals and hampers by prior arrangement).

Directions
From Durban:
Approximately 3 hours travelling in total, follow the N3 passed the Estcourt Ultra City, turn left after approximately 8kms,left onto the R74, continue through Winterton, then from Bergville continue on this road for approximately 28kms after , turn left at the Northern Berg turn off, continue for 3kms, turn off to the right(well sign-boarded), continue until you get to reception.
From Johannesburg:
Approximately 3 hours travelling in total, follow the N3 to Harrismith, turn off onto the N5, continue for approximately 5kms, turn off left onto the R712 (Bergville), continue for approximately 8kms , turn left onto the R74, continue down the pass, turn right at the R304 World Heritage(Northern)sign and junction, continue for 3kms, turn off to the right(well sign-boarded), continue until you get to the reception.
